A century and 7
Premio Fabbri fourth edition
Founded in 2005 in the company’s centenary year, the Premio Fabbri per l’Arte is a biennial art prize in which artists of national and international renown from the most varied artistic traditions have taken part.
Fabbri has been linked with the art world since the very early days: the company founder himself, Gennaro Fabbri, commissioned the celebrated blue and white jar that went on to become the company symbol to a famous potter. The link continued into the ’60s, the age of TV advertising, with "Un pittore alla settimana" (A painter per week), a series of advertisements in which upcoming artists, including a young Guttuso, were filmed while working.
This tradition of patronage has continued and taken on modern connotations.
Thirty artists are competing in the fourth edition of the prize, curated by Alberto Agazzani. They have interpreted, related and celebrated the history, tradition and values of the company worldwide known for its Amarena cherries.
Their work will be exhibited at the Bologna Academy of Fine Art from Saturday 28th January at the exhibition entitled Un secolo e 7 (A century and 7).
On January 28th - on the occasion of Art White Night - the exhibition will stay open until midnight.
The winners of the fourth edition of the Premio Fabbri will be announced at the Art Talks area, Artefiera Exhibition in Bologna on Sunday January 29th at 4pm.
Three prizes - painting, sculpture and photography - will be awarded.Competing artists:
